The mission of Community Christian Church is to proclaim Christ’s love to all people, and a big part of that proclamation is through Outreach, our service to others in the community and throughout the world.

Here are some of the projects we support on a regular basis:

N

Christmas Is Sharing

This yearly project shows the generosity of our Disciples.  Each year we sponsor families in the community who are in need.  We try to help make their Christmas celebration a little happier with a “goodie box”, including gifts and food.

N

Meals for You

This program delivers frozen meals, bread, milk, and desserts to individuals at home who are unable to purchase or prepare their own meals.  We organize teams of people to deliver meals to local residents through the Senior Center one or two days a month and are looking for people to help.  Please contact Pastor Brown if you would be interested in volunteering.

N

LAMB House (Lake Area Ministerial Benevolence)

This ecumenical organization is supported by various Churches in the Camdenton community as an extension of the Lake Area Ministerial Alliance.  It provides assistance to the needy by providing food, clothing, commodities, and occasionally fuel and rental assistance.

Share the Harvest Food Pantry & Thrift Shop

Share the Harvest Food Pantry is currently serving 550-600 families or 1800+ people and that continues to increase.  The food comes from Central Missouri Food Bank, USDA Commodities, and donations from the community.  All monies earned from the Thrift Store go to help with the Food Pantry.  Volunteers are needed in all areas.

Email  SharetheHarvest@socket.net  if you would be interested in helping.

Habitat for Humanity

Lake of the Ozarks Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing ministry seeking to eliminate poverty housing, and homelessness, making decent shelter a matter of conscience and action.

Habitat needs volunteers for construction; cashiers and support staff in the Restore; and family support.

Citizens Against Domestic Violence

CADV is a non-profit organization that provides crisis intervention, shelter, advocacy, and support to victims of family violence and sexual assault.  All services are confidential and free, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

The shelter home for abused women and families always has a list of items they need in addition to cash donations.  Check the Mission Room for a current list.

Festival of Sharing

The third weekend of October is the Festival of Sharing in Sedalia, Missouri at the state fairgrounds.   Health kits, hygiene kits, baby layettes, school kits, beans and rice, and various other goods are collected from all over the state and distributed to helping agencies.

N

Salvation Army

Every year in December we assist with the Christmas Bell Ringing project at local stores to generate funds to help local residents needing assistance from Salvation Army.  Call Judy Crawford, 573-480-1221.

Lake Area Helping Hands

This is the local homeless shelter located on West Hwy 54.  It provides shelter for families, single women, and men.  Assistance is provided in obtaining social services and finding employment. The shelter is a not-for-profit corporation funded by local churches, organizations, friends, and government/corporate grants.  Help is always welcome in staffing the office, organizing the food and clothing, storage area, and building maintenance.
